Mr. O’Brien is responsible for overall IT strategy and leads Jacobus’ business transformation initiatives. Jacobus was founded in 1919 and is the largest mobile refueling company in the country. The company is in the process of reengineering and transforming the corporate back-office, along with its operations in over 20 states. Mr. O’Brien is leading the company’s efforts in targeting 100% transaction automation and systems modernization. As CIO he is tasked with ensuring the IT strategy and vision are aligned with the overall corporate goals and objectives.
Prior to Joining Jacobus Energy in early 2014, Mr. O’Brien was VP IT for Journal Communications where he led the IT strategy and delivery of systems and processes for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and their 12 TV and 35 Radio stations. Mr. OBrien earned his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science form Marquette University, and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.
Mr. O’Brien is involved with the United Way of Greater Milwaukee and was a past co-Chairman of the IT United Committee. He also has been involved supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Milwaukee, Adoption Resources of Wisconsin, and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
