Serving at the Chief of Staff to the UW Madison CIO Bruce Maas, Don has nearly a dozen years of higher education experience in various capacities. Previous to his current campus post, Don was the director of state relations for the campus, serving at the chief legislative liaison to the Wisconsin Legislature and the Governor. In both roles, Don manages policy development, messaging and execution of campus initiatives. His background with IT goes back to his days serving in the Air Force (retired after 23 years in 2011) and his time working in the Wisconsin State Assembly as a committee clerk to the the Joint Information Policy and Technology Committee. Major IT initiatives Don has had an active role in include legislation governing WiscNet, BadgerNet and the creation of the new UW SysNet. He undergraduate degree is from the of the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee with his graduate studies at Edgewood College and the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
